How to solve
- Treat the board as 5×5: one cat per row, column, and color region.
- A useful anchor is row 1, column 3 — place it when forced, then ban its row, column, and diagonals.
- Repeat elimination until every remaining line has only one legal square.
- Finish by verifying row 5, column 4; every row and column should hold exactly one cat with no diagonal contact.
- Answer: R1C3, R2C1, R3C5, R4C2, R5C4.
