How to solve
- Treat the board as 9×9: one cat per row, column, and color region.
- A useful anchor is row 1, column 9 — place it when forced, then ban its row, column, and diagonals.
- Repeat elimination until every remaining line has only one legal square.
- Finish by verifying row 9, column 1; every row and column should hold exactly one cat with no diagonal contact.
- Answer: R1C9, R2C6, R3C2, R4C4, R5C7, R6C3, R7C8, R8C5, R9C1.
